Celebrating 20 Years!
Running Unlimited has just completed its 20th year in business. I am thankful
to all of our customers, employees and others who have made the 20 years so
great.
It has been a busy 20 years. The store has had three locations and
three owners, and has carried gear for running, wrestling, volleyball, and
most recently swimming. Running Unlimited has had racing teams, fun runs from
the store, its own 5K and 10K races, and seminars on CPR, nutrition, stretching
and triathlons. On the website, runners can get information or purchase products.
We have also supported organizations like Young Life and Bright Hope by hosting
a 5K race and collecting thousands of shoes for the poor around the world.
All this started in Arlington Heights in 1982. In 1984 the store was sold to Jim
and Darlene Nagel (former Wheeling High coach) and moved to Palatine. During these
early years, Running Unlimited was established as the running specialty store of
the northwest suburbs. The Nagels’ passion for excellence was evident in the
service they offered their customers.
In 1996, my wife and I took ownership of the store. We have worked hard at
maintaining Running Unlimited as the premier running store in the area. Our
ability to do this is in large part due to the high value we place on relationships.
We view people (customers, employees, and vendors) as our most important assets. As
we continue to move ahead, we will not forget how we made it this far. Thank you for
your support. We hope to see you during our anniversary celebration in January.
